Meet Karl

NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Karl Schneider grew up in Virginia and received his military commission through ROTC at Hampden-Sydney College in August of 1991 where he played football, sang in the Barbershop Quartet, and routinely sang the National Anthem at home football games.  He was in show choir in high school and yes, Karl was Glee before Glee was cool.  Before he got the nod to be on Active Duty in the military, he earned his teaching licensure in Secondary Education Biology from Longwood University.  Education is his passion.

Karl began his military service in 1992 as an officer in the Infantry and later won the coveted Green Beret.  He served all over the world from Europe, West Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, to South Korea.  Karl is a combat veteran and recipient of multiple awards for distinguished service.  He retired honorably in 2014 with exactly 22 years of service to our nation.  He speaks Turkish and French.

Karl holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Hampden-Sydney College Virginia, class of 1991.  He earned a certificate and teaching licensure of Secondary Education Biology from Longwood University in 1992 and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Diplomacy from Norwich University.  He is a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Seminar XXI Fellow.

Karl believes in being a contributing member of society.  He served on the Board of Advisors for the YMCA Camp Shady Brook as the Vice-Chair several years ago and was the volunteer of the year in 2013.  Since 2016, he has served as an officer-secretary on the Board of Directors of the CIVA Charter High School as well as the Colorado Springs World Affairs Council.  Karl is an entrepreneur and owns the consultant firm Longboat Strategic Solutions, LLC.  He believes small business is the engine of our economy.

Karl is married to the lovely Elizabeth, a registered nurse, and has four children, Chambliss, McElvey, Liam, and Samuel.
